North Myrtle Beach’s Park and Sports Complex has been given the greenlight to undergo an expansion.
City leaders have approved $27 million worth of bonds to pay for the work.
The expansion includes five soccer fields and six baseball fields. It also will see the addition of fish-water ponds, walking trails, playgrounds and picnic shelters.
Construction began in May with site preparation, grading, erosion control and other underground work.
Officials are hoping to finish the second phase by September of next year.
The facility is located at the intersection of S.C. Highway 31 and Robert Edge Parkway.
