Deese, Tillie

Mrs. Tillie “Puss” Deese, 77, of 1098 Prospect Road, Pembroke was born March 28, 1933 and departed this life, Thursday, October 28, 2010 at UNC Chapel Hill. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, brothers, sisters, and husband Mr. Lauton Deese. The funeral will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, October 31, 2010 at St. Anna Freewill Baptist Church with the Revs: Tony Miller and Henry Ward Oxendine officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Tillie was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and an aunt. But Tillie was more than that. Tillie loved the outdoors and to pass the time she would do yard work such as raking, burning straw and pine cones, pulling weeds from her flower bed and pruning her bushes. She enjoyed sitting outdoors in the shade under one of her pine trees watching traffic go by, with her can of Peach Snuff and spit cup by her side. She loved packing her jaw with as much as it would hold. If she got to running low on snuff then someone better get ready to make a run to the grocery store, and while you were there you might as well get a jug of milk because she was probably getting low on it too. She drank milk with everything and had it with every meal. No matter how hot the summer days she did not seem to mind the heat. She didn‘t care if it was during the heat of the day or not, she would get on the lawn mower and spend ours and she always took her time. She was a home body person. On Sundays she would look forward to going out to eat with her friends after church and the most difficult decision for the day was which place to eat. When she went on vacation her favorite place to go and relax, and just spend some time was New Jersey. Towards the end of her life she began looking and searching for loved ones who had gone on before and now the family can say that Ms. Tillie is finally with them, as well as with her heavenly family. She leaves behind to cherish her memory three sons: Crawford Deese, Dexter Deese, and Lauton Deese, Jr. all of Pembroke; a sister: Dora Locklear of Pembroke; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010 at Locklear and Son Funeral Home.
