Jackson, Bettie Jane
A graveside service for Mrs. Bettie Jane Jackson Sprott, 81, widow of Alexander McTaggart “Pete” Sprott, will be at 2:00pm, Sunday, October 31, 2010, in Mount Hope Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Stephen Taylor. The family will receive friends and family from 5:00-7:00pm, Saturday at Cain Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Sarah and Steve Caulkins 1510 Jackson Ave, Florence, SC 29501. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 905 West Faris Rd.Greenville, SC 29605. Mrs. Sprott died October 28, 2010, at her residence. She was born March 10, 1929 in Florence, SC, to the late Adolph Cohen “A.C.” and Nannie Mae Taylor Jackson. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church, the Christian Family Class, and was a sustaining member of the Junior League. Mrs Sprott had worked for many years with Baker Gill Architects, as well as being a hostess at Heritage Restaurant. She had also been the activities director of McClenaghan Place and a Teacher’s Assistant at McClenaghan and Southside Schools. Survivors include: daughters, Sarah “Missy” (Steve) Caulkins, Caroline “Boo” E. Sprott, and Gaye (Jeff) Joslin, all of Florence; son, A. McT “Mac” (Sue) Sprott Jr. of Clemson, SC; grandchildren, Sarah Anderson, Margaret Caulkins, Alex Caulkins, Ellis Caulkins, Eric Sprott, Jenny Sprott, and Hannah Joslin; and a special friend, Lynn Turner of Florence, SC.
