Massive Mobile Outage Affects Traveling Customers Of Three Major Carriers

The issue stemmed from an international third-party communications provider called Syniverse.

A massive international outage Thursday disrupted communications for U.S. customers traveling abroad.

Customers of AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon were left in the dark after experiencing intermittent issues while traveling overseas.

The devices impacted were temporarily unable to make calls, send messages and use data.

The issue stemmed from an international third-party communications provider called Syniverse, which manages international roaming connections for various carriers.

Syniverse explained it started to experience connectivity issues affecting mobile users early Thursday morning.

The company did not elaborate on what caused the issue but said they are working to investigate and restore full service.
