One Dead After Man Hijacks Commuter Bus During Rush Hour In Atlanta

One passenger found shot aboard the bus and was transported to a hospital where they later died.

One person died after a commuter bus was hijacked in Atlanta Tuesday.

A gunman hijacked the bus that was carrying 17 people during rush-hour.

Passengers got in touch with 911, but when police arrived on the scene, the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Joseph Grier, held the bus driver at gunpoint forcing them to speed away.

The police pursuit zig-zagged across highway lanes and suburban streets as the bus led authorities across at least two counties.

A passenger stayed on the line with 911 allowing police to hear the commotion.

When the bus finally came to a stop, passengers escaped. One was found shot aboard the bus and was transported to a hospital where they later died. No other injuries were reported.

Grier was arrested without incident and it was revealed he has 19 prior felony convictions. His motivation behind the incident has not been revealed.
