Florence police are still searching for a man wanted on an attempted murder charge.

57-year-old David McCormick is also wanted on a second-degree arson charge.

The charges stem from an incident on March 2 in which he allegedly set a door mat on fire in front of his ex-wife’s apartment.

Florence police and fire crews responded to the residence along Jarrott Street on reports of a fire.

The woman said she thought McCormick was responsible as they were having issues in their relationship. He had also reportedly sent her “cryptic” messages causing her anxiety and fear.
