Dali Ship Has Been Removed From Baltimore Bridge Collapse Site

The ship's removal will now allow for “all pre-collapse deep-draft commercial vessels to enter and exit the port of Baltimore.”

The cargo ship that caused the Francis Scott Key bridge in Baltimore to collapse, has now been freed from the wreckage site.

The Dali has been stuck in the Patapsco River for over 50 days now. It reportedly lost power and crews were unable to keep it from striking the pillar of the bridge.

Several tugboats pulled the 106,000-ton vessel Monday to a terminal in Baltimore in which it will undergo temporary repairs before more permanent repairs.

Over 20 crew members have been stuck on the ship since the day of the collision.

The ship’s removal will now allow for “all pre-collapse deep-draft commercial vessels to enter and exit the port of Baltimore.”

The temporary federal channel will “soon be” 400 feet wide and 50 feet deep.

Officials have said they plan to open the permanent 700-foot-wide by 50-foot-deep federal navigation channel by the end of this month.
