How Tourism Impacts the Grand Strand:

Tourism is the economic lifeblood of the Grand Strand providing:

  • Tax revenue to local municipalities for public services, including police, fire and EMS.
  • Tax revenue to support local schools and colleges.
  • Tax revenue to pay for infrastructure, including roads and public development, parks and recreational offerings.
  • Lower tax rates for local, owner-occupied residents thanks to tax revenue generated by tourists.
  • 80,000 direct and indirect jobs
  • An unmatched quality of life for local residents

  • May 21, 2024: Myrtle Beach History, Movies and Music Trolley Tour starts at Grand 14 Movie Theater at The Market Common. Hear the story of Myrtle Beach’s coming of age in the mid-20th century to present day.  Stops include a Green Book listing, The Fitzgerald Motel at Charlie’s Place Historic Site.
  • May 22, 2024: Reimaging Talent: The Business Value of Looking Beyond Stigma, Noon – 1pm at Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce, 1200 N. Oak St. in Myrtle Beach. Eastern Carolina Housing Organization (ECHO) speaks to business leaders about hiring trends with employees in recovery, substance use disorder, homeless and mental illness.
  • May 22, 2024: J-1 Visa International Café open from 5-6pm at Midtown Vineyard Church, 504 27th Ave N, Myrtle Beach, SC
  • May 23-25, 2024: NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field National Championship.
  • May 23, 2024: Eight Arms Keto Kitchen ribbon-cutting and grand opening celebration at 5001 N. Kings Hwy., Ste. 207 in Myrtle Beach from 11 am to Noon.
  • May 23, 2024: Grand Strand Young Professionals and Partnership Grand Strand host a “Flavors and Facts at HGTC’s International Culinary Institute from 11:45 am – 2 pm at the Fowler Dining Room at 920 Crabtree Ln in Myrtle Beach.
  • May 23, 2024: Ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of Island Vibez Cafe and Coffeehouse at 533 Broadway Street in Myrtle Beach at 2 p.m.
  • May 24, 2024: The Myrtle Beach Area CVB is set to release its annual report as well as a press release about National Travel and Tourism Week.
  • May 25, 2024: Military Appreciation Days Parade & Picnic held at the The Market Common in Farrow Parkway. To observe the city’s military history of nearly 50 years, Myrtle Beach Military Appreciation Days commend those who serve or have served our great nation. The month-long celebration features various free events, including a JROTC Drill Competition, parade, and picnic.
