Man Sentenced To 20-Years In Prison After Shooting Girlfriend In The Face

A Darlington County man has now been sentenced for the attempted murder of his girlfriend.

In September of 2021, deputies responded to a domestic-related shooting on Marcus Drive in the Pine Ridge area of Hartsville.

A woman was in a vehicle with her two young children when Jesse Washington jumped in the car, disabled it and put a gun to the woman’s head. She was on the phone with 911 when Washington shot her in the face.

Despite being shot, she was able to get her children out of the car and flee while Washington continued shooting in her direction.

The woman lost an eye in the shooting but recovered to appear in court.

Washington has since pleaded guilty to attempted murder.

On Friday he was sentenced to 20-years in prison.
