Judge Holds Trump In Contempt Of Court For Violating Gag Order

The former president said in an interview, "That jury was picked so fast, 95% Democrats. The area's mostly all Democrat. It's a very unfair situation, that I can tell you."

The judge overseeing Trump’s criminal hush money trial held him in contempt of court for violating a gag order again.

Judge Juan Merchan accused Trump of violating his order on April 22 after commenting on the political makeup of the jury.

The former president said in an interview, “That jury was picked so fast, 95% Democrats. The area’s mostly all Democrat. It’s a very unfair situation, that I can tell you.”

Merchan said Trump’s comments not only called into question the “integrity and legitimacy” of the proceedings, but raised the specter of fear for the safety of the jurors and of their families.

This marks the 10th time Trump violated the gag order. He was recently fined $9,000 for violations in posts on social media and his campaign website.

Merchan reiterated that Trump could face jail time if he continues to violate the gag order. However, he said putting Trump in jail is the last thing he wants to do. He added that consequence would disrupt the trial and present challenges.

Stormy Daniels started delivering her testimony in the trial Tuesday.
