President Biden Addresses Ongoing College Protests Across The Nation
This marks the first time the president has directly addressed the issue since previous brief comments he made before the escalation of suspensions and arrests at several campuses.
President Biden spoke out on college protests happening across the nation amid the ongoing Israel/Hamas war.
The president added that the protests are putting two fundamental American principles to the test. “The first is the right to free speech and for people to peacefully assemble and make their voices heard. The second is the rule of law. Both must be upheld.
Biden added, “So, let me be clear. Violent protest is not protected, peaceful protest is.” He went on to emphasize that there is no place for hate speech or violence of any kind against Arab Americans and Palestinian Americans.
