Biden Administration Finalizes Title IX Regulations

The new regulations were added to clarify the law bans discrimination based on all sexual orientation and gender identity.

The Biden administration passed new rules and regulations last week regarding Title IX.

The 1972 sex discrimination law originally passed to address women’s rights and applies to schools and colleges that receive federal funding.

The new regulations were added to clarify the law bans discrimination based on all sexual orientation and gender identity.

The new rules also provide more protection to students who make accusations of sexual misconduct.

The regulation addresses bathroom laws at public schools. It states that sex separation isn’t always unlawful. However, the separation becomes a violation of Title IX when it causes more than minor harm on a protected individual.

The regulations also cover that harassing a student, including acts of aggression against their preferred pronouns, can constitute as discrimination.
