Baltimore City Is Suing Owners And Managers Of The Dali Ship
The suit alleges alarms showing an inconsistent power supply on Dali sounded off before leaving the port, but continued on its voyage anyway, despite conditions.
The city of Baltimore has filed a lawsuit over the fatal Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse.
On March 26, a large cargo ship struck a pillar of the bridge causing the collapse. The incident resulted in the death of six construction workers who were attempting to fill potholes on the bridge at the time of the incident.
The ship reportedly lost power and was not able to steer clear of the pillar. The lawsuit claims the owners of the vessel, Dali, were negligent in allowing the ship to leave the port of Baltimore without addressing known power problems.
The suit alleges alarms showing an inconsistent power supply on Dali sounded off before leaving the port, but continued on its voyage anyway, despite conditions.
The ship departed from the port around 12:45am and crashed into the bridge nearly an hour later.
The city of Baltimore is now seeking to hold the owners fully liable for the collapse.
