Cleo Myers Kelly
Mrs. Cleo Myers Kelly, the third daughter of the late Damon and Amanda Kenny Myers, was born in Florence County on July 12, 1910. She quietly slipped into eternal rest on Saturday, October 16, 2010. She attended the public schools of Florence County and furthered her education at Benedict College, Columbia, SC. She taught in the Lake City Public School System and also worked at T-Square. At an early age, she received Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior. She was joined in holy matrimony to Johnny Kelly who preceded her in death. No children were born to this union. They moved to New York City and lived there for many years. Mrs. Kelly returned to Florence to take care of her parents in later years. She reunited with Savannah Grove Baptist Church where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday School. She was also a member of the Mutual Aid Society, Joint Stock Hall, NAACP and various other organizations. She was in Commander Nursing Center for four and a half years. She was frequently visited by her nieces, Janet C. James, Helen James, Annie L. Williams and Siesha Moultrie; a good friend, Mrs. Mary Lou Benjamin; she was frequently called by her nieces, Fannie Barr of Jamaica, NY; Dorothy Bailey of New York City; and a nephew, Charles Wiggins of New Haven, CT. She leaves to cherish her memories: a host of nieces, grand nieces, nephews, grand nephews, other relatives and friends.
