Murdaugh Sentenced To 40-Years For Financial Crimes
The former S.C. attorney pleaded guilty to 22 charges including bank fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud, as well as money laundering.
In the lowcountry Monday, Alex Murdaugh was in court once again.
Last year, the former S.C. attorney pleaded guilty to 22 charges including bank fraud, wire fraud, conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud, as well as money laundering.
Murdaugh stole nearly $11 million from over 20 of his former clients. He was ordered to pay $8.76 million in restitution.
In addition, Murdaugh was handed down a sentence of 40-years in prison. The sentence will run concurrent with the state charges in which he received a 27-year sentence.
The 55-year-old is currently serving a life sentence for the 2021 murders of his wife and son after he was convicted in March of last year.
