Florence And Georgetown To Receive Federal Funding For Projects

The cities are now awaiting an official letter before the projects can begin.

Two local cities will soon receive federal funding for projects.

U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham announced this year’s fiscal spending package was recently approved by the U.S. Senate which includes funding for multiple projects across S.C..

Florence and Georgetown are two of many cities that will receive millions.

The city of Florence will be granted $5 million and the funds will go towards expanding and upgrading its water treatment plant. Part of that expansion includes water volume.

The city of Georgetown will receive $6.5 million with money going toward deepening the harbor near Front Street. The waterway has reportedly become shallower over the years which causes issues.
