Carolyn Brunson Blue

“For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:” II Timothy 4: 6-7 (KJV) Carolyn Brunson Blue was born in Florence, South Carolina on July 23, 1950. She was the daughter of Mack Brunson, Sr. and Maggie Brunson Braswell. She was called into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 5, 2010, after an extended illness at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, South Carolina. “Lady Blue”, as she was affectionately called, attended the public schools of Florence County and graduated from Wilson Senior High School in the Class of 1968. She earned a certificate as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant and worked in several capacities including: a Bank Teller, Tutor, Mentor, and a dedicated employee for Blue Cross Blue Shield (Florence) for 20 years. At an early age, she attended Zion Tabernacle Holiness Church under the leadership of the late Rev. W. L. Johnson. She later attended Truth Family Fellowship Center. Carolyn was a loving, affectionate mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend who loved to be surrounded by her family. She was also a child care provider and loved to assist those in need. She was preceded in death by her father, Mack Brunson, Sr.; stepfather, Arthur Braswell; brothers, Gene and Jessie B. Brunson; sister, Joyce Ann Covington; and niece, Tanaya “Inky” Wilson. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, Elder Victor, Sr. (Joan) Brunson of Florence, SC, and Travis Blue of New Bern, NC; one daughter, Maggi Blue of New Bern, NC; four grandchildren; one great grandchild; her mother, Maggie Braswell of Florence, SC; one brother, Mack, Jr. (Margaret) Brunson of Florence, SC; two sisters, Brenda (Pastor Anthony) Howard of Florence, SC, and Lisa (Kenny) Briggs of Hephzibah, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
