Martin H. Parrish

Martin H. Parrish, 88, passed Friday, October 1, 2010 at his residence in Southern Pines. Mr. Parrish was born March 20, 1922 in Harnett County, NC to the late Mack Lewis Parrish and Chessie Viola Butts Parrish. Funeral Services will be at 2:00PM, Monday, October 4, 2010 at Aberdeen First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Branscome and Rev. Charles Hinson officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Church before the service from 1-2PM. Mr. Parrish served his country during WWII in the US Navy. He later went on to own and operate Southern Pines Plumbing & Heating. Martin was a member of the Aberdeen First Baptist Church for many years, where he served as a Deacon and a Trustee. Mr. Parrish was preceded in death by a brother, William Lewis Parrish, half sister, Lois Pearman, stepbrothers, Ralston Williams and Willie “Billy” Williams. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Brownie Bradshaw Parrish; daughters, Esta Lene Olson and husband, James, of Wisconsin, and Margaret Viola Brown and husband, Stephen (Bart) of Morehead City, NC; a brother, James Esta Parrish of Liberty, NC; two sisters, Alice Jones and husband, David, and Alma Reid and husband, Clyde, both of Aberdeen; stepsisters, Evon Brockwell, Carrboro, NC, Morris Gray Tucker, Clinton NC, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in memory of Martin Parrish to FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care at 150 Applecross Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374.
