Blinken Held Many Discussions With Israel Leaders During Middle East Visit
Antony Blinken reportedly made clear to Israel that Palestinians must be allowed to return to their homes in Gaza "as soon as conditions allow" and must not be displaced from the strip.
U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken held discussions with Israeli officials Tuesday.
Blinken announced that the Israeli government has agreed to a plan to allow a United Nations assessment mission to northern Gaza as their offensive there shifts to a new phase.
Blinken also reportedly made clear to Israel that Palestinians must be allowed to return to their homes in Gaza “as soon as conditions allow” and must not be displaced from the strip.
Also in the day of talks with Israeli officials, Blinken said he reaffirmed U.S. support for Israel confirming Hamas’ original deadly attack will never happen again, while also calling on the government to do more to mitigate civilian casualties. He also discussed the efforts to secure the release of hostages still held by Hamas.
This is Blinken’s fifth visit to Israel since the October 7th Hamas attacks.
