Sixth Grader Killed In Iowa School Shooting
The shooter was identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
On Friday, a gunman opened fire at a Perry High School in Iowa on the first day back after winter break.
The shooter was identified as 17-year-old Dylan Butler who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Before shooting himself, Butler shot and killed a 6th grader and shot and injured four students as well as the school’s principal.
Butler was armed with a pump-action shotgun and a small-caliber handgun. An improvised explosive device was also found on school grounds but was deemed safe.
The suspect’s motive is now being investigated as authorities look into his social media posts he made around the time of the shooting. Butler posted a picture on TikTok captioned “now we wait” and the song ‘Stray Bullet’ playing over it. Butler also posted photos posing with the firearms.
Details remain limited as investigators work to reveal more.
