Man Arrested In Connection To Possible Burglary

Clement Wells allegedly entered the store through the air conditioning vent. The responding officer saw Wells pulling a dolly with $2,200 worth of merchandise.

One man has been charged for robbery and assaulting an officer.

Around 3am on Saturday, police were called to Pat’s Suprette located on Oakland Avenue in Florence.

The responding officer saw Wells pulling a dolly with $2,200 worth of merchandise.

The suspect reportedly abandoned the dolly and fled on foot, leading to a chase.

Wells pretended to surrender and pepper sprayed the officer. He was then tased by the officer but was able to continue running.

The officer tackled wells but was pepper sprayed again and choked by the suspect.

After backup eventually arrived, Wells was charged with burglary second degree, larceny, attempted murder, and giving false information.

The injured officer is expected to be okay.
