House Passes Critical Defense Policy Bill
The new National Defense Authorization Act increases pay for members of the U.S. military by 5.2%, which marks the largest raise for troops in over 20 years.
The House voted to pass a critical defense policy bill on Thursday.
The new National Defense Authorization Act increases pay for members of the U.S. military by 5.2%, which marks the largest raise for troops in over 20 years.
The bill also sets the policy agenda and authorizes funding for the Department of Defense annually.
In addition, the law authorizes $886 billion in National Defense Funding, an increase of $28 billion over last year.
The House voted 310 to 118 in favor, with 73 Republicans and 45 Democrats opposing the bill.
The Senate also passed the bill on Wednesday which means it will now be sent to President Biden’s desk to be signed into law.
