Peppermint is at the top of the list and fortunately it’s one of the most widely available herbal teas. Menthol, a main component, can generate a pain relief response in the gut. Plus, there are several other properties that can reduce cramping. It also works well for nausea. The only drawback is peppermint isn’t recommended if you suffer from acid reflux or indigestion.
Ginger tea is another great option as it contains enzymes that keep fluids and food moving along the digestive system. It’s been proven to soothe a swollen stomach as well as provide relief for cramping.
Chamomile is another one. It’s anti-inflammatory as it can lower stomach acidity. The small flowers have been shown in studies to decrease levels of harmful bacteria. But, due to its relaxing properties it’s best to consume before bed or at least when you don’t have plans.
Finally, lemon tea has strong antioxidant content which can also lead to improved digestive health. Other honorable mentioned are fennel, green and tumeric tea.
