Alex Murdaugh’s Sentencing Set After Pleading Guilty To Financial Crimes

Pleading guilty was part of a plea agreement that would carry a sentence of 27 years in prison.

Alex Murdaugh is expected to appear in court this week after pleading guilty to financial crimes as part of a plea deal.

On November 17th, the disbarred S.C. lawyer pleaded guilty to charges that stem from indictments alleging he stole $8 million from legal settlements for clients.

Pleading guilty was part of a plea agreement that would carry a sentence of 27 years in prison. Murdaugh must serve at least 85% of that sentence, or nearly 23 years, before he would be eligible for parole.

Murdaugh’s sentencing is set for Tuesday at 10am.
