Two Additional Companies Recall Apple Cinnamon Applesauce Pouches
Two more companies, including Schnucks Markets of Saint Louis and Weis Markets of Sunbury, Pennsylvania, have also placed recalls on certain cinnamon applesauce products.
Federal health officials are expanding a recall on fruit pouches marketed for children.
The FDA first issued the recall on ‘WanaBana Apple Cinnamon Fruit Puree Pouches’ last week that included all lot codes and expiration dates. The recall was placed after investigations revealed the consumable products may contain high levels of lead.
Now, two more companies, including ‘Schnucks Markets of Saint Louis’ and ‘Weis Markets of Sunbury, Pennsylvania’, have also placed recalls on certain cinnamon applesauce products due to possible lead contamination.
Parents and guardians should refrain from purchasing or serving the cinnamon applesauce products, which are sold through several retailers, including Amazon and Dollar Tree.
Children and others who have already consumed the products should be tested for possible lead poisoning.
