The Texas Rangers have won the World Series Championship for the first time in the franchise’s 63-season history.

The Ranger’s won four out five games against the Arizona Diamondbacks to secure the title in the final game played in Phoenix.

The fifth game was scoreless through six innings, but Rangers shortstop Corey Seager broke up the no-hitter in the seventh and Mitch Garver’s single scored Seager for the game’s first run. The Rangers then dominated in the ninth inning scoring four more runs leading to a five to nothing win.

Seager led the way throughout the series for Texas. He was named series MVP, becoming just the fourth player ever to win two World Series MVP awards.

In addition, left handed pitcher Will Smith became the first player in MLB history to win three straight world series with three different teams.
