Police Remind People Of School Zone Traffic Laws After Spike In Violations

Officers said they are now evaluating traffic patterns in different school zones to determine how to best address the issue.

Myrtle Beach Police want to remind people of traffic laws in school zone areas after a spike in violations.

The department shared the majority of recent violations have been at the intersection of Robert Grissom Parkway and 29th Avenue North, which prompted an increase in patrol presence.

The department warned that a speeding ticket in Myrtle Beach could cost drivers around $80 and can go up to $400.

Drivers have also been failing to stop at school bus stop signs which can cost not only around $2,000 in tickets, but puts lives at risk. To view more on the laws regarding a stopped school bus, visit SCDSP.
