U.S. Troops Injured After Helicopter Mishap In Syria
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation although no enemy fire was reported.
A total of 15 U.S. service members have been evacuated for treatment after a helicopter accident in Syria.
The service members were transported to a medical center in Germany that has treated U.S. troops injured in combat for years.
Seven other service members were also injured in the accident and treated at the scene.
Some have reportedly returned to duty and some remain in critical condition.
The helicopter was a specialized heavy-lift chopper used by special operations forces and had an issue with one rotor that resulted in a hard landing during takeoff.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation although no enemy fire was reported.
The U.S. has nearly 900 troops in Syria as part of the on-going mission to defeat ISIS and this is not the first helicopter mishap that has occurred.
