Natalee Holloway Suspect Pleads Not Guilty to Extortion and Wire Fraud

Van Der Sloot is the main suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Holloway in Aruba.

The man suspected in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway is in the U.S. today after losing an extradition appeal. 35-year-old Joran Van Der Sloot arrived in Birmingham, Alabama from Peru on federal charges of wire fraud and extortion.
His initial court appearance and arraignment took place at 11 this morning. Van Der Sloot is the main suspect in the 2005 disappearance of Holloway in Aruba. The Dutch national faces extortion and wire fraud charges in relation to an alleged plot to extort money from the Holloway family. He has been serving a 28-year prison sentence in Peru for the murder of another woman, Stephany Flores in 2010.

 

Update* Van Der Sloot pleaded not guilty today to charges that he attempted to extort money from the missing teen’s mother.
