Major Dam Destruction Prompts Evacuations And Accusations

Destruction of the dam has prompted evacuations in Ukraine's Southern Kherson region as floodwaters rise.

A major critical dam in Ukraine has been destroyed and Kyiv as well as Moscow have blamed each other for the breach in the Russian-occupied region.

The Nova Kakhovka dam is a critical piece of infrastructure that supplies water for much of Southeastern Ukraine, including the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, and the Crimea peninsula.

Ukrainian military intelligence claimed Russian forces blew up the dam and the Kremlin denied involvement as they accused Ukraine of deliberate sabotage.
