Uber Rolls Out New Feature For Minors
With the new feature, teens are not allowed to take trips outside of the area where they live, such as jumping cities.
Not many ridesharing companies allow unaccompanied minors on their apps, but Uber has announced they are joining the small minority of those that do.
The company revealed that teens will soon be able to create their own accounts which parents and guardians will be able to monitor and track their rides or take-out orders.
The change allows children between 13 and 17 to create their own accounts that are linked to their family’s profile so they can be tracked during their entire trip.
Before the trip can start, drivers must enter a pin verification and are not allowed to change the final destination. Only the teen can make changes to their trip.
Safety features like audio recording and an in-app emergency button cannot be turned off for teens rides.
With the new feature, teens are not allowed to take trips outside of the area where they live, such as jumping cities.
Teen accounts on Uber will be available in some U.S. and Canadian cities starting on May 22nd.
