Ever feel guilty about tossing the pit of the avocado. There’s a great use for it. People are making avocado tea from the stone. We looked into it to see what dieticians were saying. The seeds are rich in fatty acids, fiber, carbs and a small amount of protein. This means it can be good for your gut and help with digestion. Avocado seed tea is also believed to help lower cholesterol, and the richness of potassium relaxes the blood vessels and helps in stabilizing the blood pressure. One study showed that the seed contain 70 percent of the it’s antioxidants. To get these benefits, make the tea by boiling the seed in about a liter of water for 5 mins. Then remove it the seed, slice it into smaller pieces, and return to the pot to boil for another 5 minutes. The water will begin to turn a pinkish red. Strain and enjoy. Some are also adding honey because it can be a bitter aftertaste.
