Deadline To File Taxes Is April 18th

Filers can still request an extension on April 18th, which would allow you to submit your full return by October 16th.

April 18th is the deadline to file your taxes.

If you fail to pay your taxes, you’ll owe a 0.5% monthly penalty on your original amount for as long as it remains unpaid. The penalty increases to 1% if you do not pay your taxes 10 days after receiving a notice in regards to the imposing penalty. The penalty adds up until the total tax penalty reaches 25% of the total unpaid taxes amount.

Individual taxpayers who made less than $12,950 and married couples filing jointly who made less than $25,900, are not required to file a federal tax return. However, the IRS states low-income individuals should still file because they could be granted a refund from withheld taxes.

Filers can still request an extension on April 18th, which would allow you to submit your full return by October 16th.

If you have not filed yet due to funds and expenses, or if you made less than $73 thousand last year, you can file for free at IRS.gov.
