An Irish Spring Soap Hack to Keep the Bugs Out!
Keep bugs out with Irish Spring soap and sharpen your focus on the golf course with these Thursday's Tips on Carolina A.M.
For your Thursday Tips, something for everyone…from keeping out the bugs to a few travels tips. We begin with a golf tip that anyone can take benefit from. if you want to hit your target, stop looking at all the other places you don’t want to go! In Darrin Donnelly’s Sports for the Soul series in his book “Relentless Optimism,” Donnelly suggests some aren’t hitting their targets because they are giving energy to the places they’re trying to avoid. Instead of seeing the trees to the right, the water to the left, see a welcoming green with a flag pin, your safe landing zone waiting for your ball. In other words, your destination is determined by what you focus on. Audra got this tip from Brian Johnson’s Heroic podcast newsletter.
And now to knocking out the bugs! You’ll never guess what we’re gonna use to do that – bar of soap. This may just be the best use Irish Spring yet! This Tiktok from Nannyhacks says to rub the Irish Spring on the inside of the door frame, across the top and bottom. She says the bugs don’t like it and will think twice before crossing the threshold.
Irish Spring is often used to keep bugs out of clothes (Audra puts a bar in her clothes when storing), but if you don’t won’t your clothes to smell like the soap, you can use a few things from your spring garden. Herbs such as thyme, mint and spearmint are also effective in repelling moths and bugs without releasing harmful chemicals and staining your clothes. You could place dried-out herbs in sachets to both prevent a moth infestation when you’re packing away for the season or going on a trip.
When it comes to bathing if you’ve been relying on hotel toiletries for your skincare, you may want to pack your own soap. A wellness blog recently posted an article on the matter. The soaps and lotions provided by hotels and resorts may sometimes include irritating perfumes and preservatives that can damage skin and cause breakouts, which is the last thing you want when on vacation. It’s best to stick to the skincare items you’ve brought with you, which you know work well for your skin.
