Information about the event:

March 23, 2023 — North Myrtle Beach, SC: Have you ever imagined how a dog feels living in a kennel? Would you be able to rely on a complete stranger to save your life? The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach is looking for animal advocates to be “locked in” at the shelter with the goal of raising their “adoption fees” to help save more animals in our community on Saturday, April 29, 2023.

By participating in the Kennel Lock In, people will be spending a day in the life of a shelter animal experiencing the same sights, smells and noise the animals endure every day. This will be an eye-opening experience for individuals, as they will be able to admire firsthand the tenacity of a shelter animal and better understand why it is so imperative to support The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach’s mission of providing care for animals in-need.

“What is so unique about the Kennel Lock In is participants are literally stepping into the paws of an animal and will view animal welfare from an entirely new perspective,” said Meaghan Pitman, marketing manager of The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach. “We are seeing the length of stay increase for animals, and as we continue to receive an abundance of calls each day to take in more animals, we need the support from our community now more than ever.”

Prior to the event, participates will schedule a date/time to visit the shelter from March 27 – April 21, 2023 to have their picture taken and fill out an information sheet. Participants will set their own “adoption fee” to raise, and The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach will provide a link for each participant to share to receive donations. There will be fun challenges and activities for participants, and they are encouraged to invite their friends and family, as the public is welcome to visit the shelter the day of the event.
