IRS Extends Tax Filing Deadline For States Hit By Severe Storms

The affected states now have an option to request a tax extension for beyond July but must submit the request before April 18th.

The IRS is extending the tax-filing deadline for Americans in states affected by recent devastating storms and tornadoes.

The agency extended deadlines for Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, California, and New York.

The extension has also been granted to Lonoke and Pulaski counties in Arkansas that were also designated disaster areas.

At least 32 people died in recent severe storms.
