An article in the Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports suggests that contracting muscles tightly for 3-4 seconds a day fast-tracks muscle growth. Up to 12% in one month! Another study shows that young adults doing 10 4-second isometric contractions of the arm (with 4 sec of rest between) for five total sets…three time per week, for 3 months increased their biceps and triceps 4%.
