Robeson Community College Shares Student Success Stories in Today’s Carolina Kindness
We’ve partnered with the Maguire Law Firm to bring you Carolina Kindness stories each Wednesday.
With many of us looking to make changes or live our best lives this year, it helps to have some inspiration to jumpstart our efforts. Robeson Community College is doing that by sharing student success stories. There are 22 stories full of student determination. Billy Currie is a firefighter and EMT from the Ocean Isle Fire Department who drove an hour and twenty minutes each way to further his education for his work. Also highlighted is 2022 graduate Makayla Hunt who serves in the North Carolina National Guard while completing her courses. Recognizing other’s accomplishments, dedication, and sacrifices is good for everyone. You can read all 22 stories at robeson.edu.
Not only does it make you feel good, kindness is physically good for the heart. Recent studies show that doing something nice gives your body a dose of oxytocin. It’s a hormone protein that reduces inflammatory conditions and improves cardiovascular function. A kind gesture can also release other endorphin-like chemicals in the body called “substance p” which can relieve pain, ease stress and contributes to overall well being.
