Airbnb Enforces Strict Rules For New Years Eve Bookings

Airbnb has been tackling the prevention of parties for several years now after a fatal incident occurred during a party at a California rental property several years ago.

Airbnb is taking new precautions when it comes to bookings for New Years Eve.

The rental company is set to ban one-night bookings for entire home listings for guests that do not have prior positive reviews. The new policy will be put into effect for New Years Eve weekend in an attempt to prevent parties.

The move is expected to help promote responsible travel as well as prevent rare situations of unwelcomed behavior.

The company will also bring tighter restrictions for customers who try to book two or three-night reservations that are booking “locally.”

Since the fatal incident, the company has been enforcing restrictions over major holidays.

The no party rule became permanent over the summer of 2022.
