An advisory was released stating that the eruption is expected to remain in the Northeastern Rift Zone and that volcanic gas, possible ash and strands of lava glass may be carried downwind.

There are reports of lava overflowing into the Southwest portion of the volcano’s crater but, no evacuation orders have been issued. However, as a precaution, 2 shelters have been opened.

Certain flights to and from the island have been canceled. The FAA is monitoring the eruption and will be releasing advisories as the volcano eruption runs its course.
