U.S. Officials Visited Brittney Griner, Who Is Detained In Moscow
Griner requested an appeal but a Moscow court denied it at a hearing on October 25th.
Officials from the U.S. Embassy visited WNBA star, Brittney Griner who is imprisoned in Moscow.
Griner was detained in February and sentenced to nine years in prison on drug smuggling charges in August. Griner requested an appeal but a Moscow court denied it at a hearing on October 25th. During the hearing Griner apologized for her mistake in bringing the small amount of cannabis into Russia.
While Embassy Officials visited, they saw firsthand her determination despite her current circumstances.
This is the first time Embassy Officials were allowed to speak to Griner face-to-face since August.
