The House Committee investigating the Jan 6th attack on the Capitol reached a unanimous vote to subpoena former President Trump.

The committee argued that Trump held a huge influence in the efforts to overturn the 2020 election that resulted in the violence that occurred during the attack on the Capitol. Select committee chairman, Bennie Thompson, expressed that Trump must be held accountable and is required to answer for his actions.

The decision comes over a year after the committee began their investigation.

Trump has not yet responded to the subpoena.
