A viewer writes to share how she finds joy in doing random acts of kindness for teachers. The viewer carries a $20 in her pocket anytime she visits dollar stores and gives it to a teacher buying supplies.
A mom and daughter were on the receiving end of the same sort of giving at a toy store across the pond. Caitlin Foster and daughter Lacey were visiting a toy store using $10 dollars that Lacey’s grandma had given her to buy a toy. Employees asked asked if they could give a gift card to Lacey, explaining that earlier that day a woman had bought it and asked for it to be given to a preschool child. When they opened the card, they were overwhelmed with emotion.
Speaking of helping and giving back, The Place of Healing is distributing clothing and shoes this Saturday, Oct. 15. for those in need. Just head to the Pantry at 805 South Main street in Darlington. The non-profit is distributing men, women and children’s clothing and shoes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday to anyone in need, no charge, and open to the public. The Place of Healing is transitional shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness in the Pee Dee and surrounding areas.
