Students in Uvalde Texas Return to School

Students in the Uvalde School District begin classes today. Many of which haven’t been back into the classroom since the shooting at Robb Elementary School in which 19 students and 2 teachers lost their lives back in May. Staff and students won’t be returning to the site of the deadly school massacre but will instead begin classes at ‘Dalton Elementary’ and ‘Uvalde Elementary’ while other families have moved out of the district all together. Along with moving the students to other schools, the school district also boosted it’s number of Texas Department of Public Safety Officers working in the schools to 33 and fired it’s Police Chief Pete Arredondo. They’ve also hired additional school police officers, installed 500 new security cameras, metal detectors and increased emotional support for students among other things.
