Flights Returning to Normal After Weekend Cancellations
Flights are slowly returning to normal in and around the United States following the challenging holiday weekend. According to FlightAware, about 2,000 flights to, from and within the U.S. were canceled between Thursday and Sunday or 2% of scheduled flights. There was a peak of 657 flights canceled on Saturday. Airlines cited bad weather and staffing shortages for the cancellations and delays. According to FlightAware yesterday afternoon only 219 flights were canceled which is less than 1% of the daily schedule. This marks the third straight holiday weekend in which there have been a spike in canceled flights.
