South Korea, U.S. Fire Missiles in Response to North Korea’s Missile Launch

South Korea and the United States responded to North Korea’s recent launch of eight missiles over the weekend. The countries fired eight more missiles into the waters off of the east coast of the Korean peninsula this morning. Seven of the eight were fired by South Korea and the remaining was fired by the U.S. according to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff which said they demonstrated that “even if North Korea provokes with missiles from multiple locations, South Korea and the United States have the ability and readiness to immediately strike with precision.” Yesterday, North Korea fired eight short-range ballistic missiles from multiple sites in the country. The exchange comes as North Korea intensifies its provocations in the region among concerns of a nuclear test.
