2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season Forecast
Yesterday, NOAA announced it’s 2022 Atlantic Hurricane season outlook. Forecasters say we will likely see another year of above-average hurricane activity which would mark the seventh consecutive above-average Hurricane season in the Atlantic. This year, forecasters expect between 14 to 21 named storms with winds of up to 39 miles per hour or higher. NOAA also is predicting that six to 10 of those storms will become Hurricanes with winds of 74 miles per hour or higher, including three to six major Hurricanes. Last month, forecasters at Colorado State University also predicted an above-average Hurricane season for the year. Their forecast predicted 19 named storms with nine Hurricanes and four major Hurricanes. The Atlantic Hurricane season begins June 1st and goes through November 30th.
