Will Smith Apologizes to Academy for His Behavior After Defending Wife from Chris Rock’s Joke

Will smith, as projected, won the Oscar for best male actor, but it was what happened moments before that has people talking.  Chris Rock was presenting an award when he made a joke about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.   Chris Rock defended himself following that incident clarifying it was a “G.I. Jane” joke.   Smith later apologized to the Academy when accepting best actor (“King Richard”).  Jessica Chastain won best actress for her role in the Tammy Faye movie. “Coda” is the first film from a streaming service Apple TV+ to win best picture. “Dune” was the night’s big winner, taking home six Oscars.
