MapQuest has added a new feature that flags Flock cameras.

The new ‘surveillance layer’ can be found in the mobile app. It allows users to find known license plate readers within their route.

The feature not only shows Flock cameras, but other outdoor surveillance cameras including PlateSmart, Axon, Genetec, Axis Communications, and more.

Flock’s plate readers not only record license plate numbers, but specific details about a car to create what the company calls a “vehicle signature.” The details include the make, model and color of the car along with unique features like bumper stickers, decals, and accessories. The company, however, does not use biometric data or facial recognition.
