Search Underway For Missing Boater On Waccamaw River

The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Rescue is using a drone and sonar equipment as part of the search for the missing person.

A watercraft collided with a log on the Waccamaw River Wednesday prompting the search for a missing boater.

The incident occurred around 10am on the water behind Longwood Drive in the Blackmoor area of Murrells Inlet.

One person was recovered from the crash and taken to a hospital but their current condition is unknown. Another boater went underwater and was not wearing a life vest.

The Murrells Inlet-Garden City Fire Rescue is using a drone and sonar equipment as part of the search for the missing person. Horry County Police and a Horry County Fire Rescue Dive Team are assisting.
